Europe 2016 - MICHELIN Restaurants app good for
Probably one of the best applications in value for the money invested. If you are like me a European traveler this is a must.
My wife & I have successfully used the Michelin restaurant guide in Nice, Bordeaux & Paris. Its offers a fair view of the restaurants including price & offerings.
Easy to make reservation online or by using the telephone numbers provided.
We highly recommend the app.
Michelin guides, both green and red, have been at my side for something shy of 100 trips to Europe since the mid 1970s. Obviously I find them valuable, and now that some of the content can be easily carried as part of ones phone, theyre more convenient than ever. As far as their restaurant recommendations are concerned, Ive certainly enjoyed some places more than others, but Michelin remains my best opportunity to avoid a bad meal; Ive never had a "throw away" experience at an establishment that appears in the guide. Still, there could be improvements. The old print versions rated more places, and included hotels, and I rather liked the fact that a given countrys guide was essentially written in that countrys language along with a key that helped the reader decipher the text. I found this helpful in getting attuned to the locale, and it would be nice if the app version allowed a choice of language. Its also annoying that the search function always defaults to France instead of to the country last consulted. Finally, Id prefer a subscription format with an annual fee for a continuously updated guide rather than one that is fixed for a year and has included restaurants that have closed or undergone significant changes.
Some bad moments
Compared to the former versions, this App has a number of significant drawbacks:
- costs went up but still, the App does not include hotels anymore but only Restaurants
- almost all phone numbers are incorrect
- not possible to add Restaurant to contacts
- Navigation to Restaurant only via Michelin App (not Google or Apple Navigation)
Disappointing!
I downloaded it and paid it a lot. Now it does not work properly : it is very slow when you launch it and it is not working when you search by cities.
